It is not a musician’s right to define what should be on the same platform as them that should have been the message that Spotify stood behind by confronting Young and other artists. Following Neil Young’s protests of having his music on a shared platform with Joe Rogan, Spotify should not have listened to him or other artists and their judgments on Rogan and his media. Spotify should not be listening to music and content creators’ opinions when it comes to what is on its platform. While I would advise Joe Rogan in political and moral senses to sign a deal with Rumble and remove all his content from Spotify, I understand that he would lose viewership and revenue from his podcast. While I do not believe that Rogan will sign this deal due to Rumble not truly being a well-known video platform for many age groups compared to Spotify, I believe this will spike interest in what Rumble is and bring it more viewership. It seems like they are one of the few social media platforms that truly are allowing freedom of speech and opinion on their platform. Rumble has allowed other conservative creators and even Donald Trump to join its platform and allows these voices to be heard even after Twitter banned them. The multi-million dollar offer from Rumble to Joe Rogan is riveting news for people on the right. The marriage of Rumble and Joe Rogan is unlikely to ever become a reality - although it certainly shows how influential Rogan remains to be to garner a contract worth $100 million over four years. However, it only began to gain prominence in the last couple of years after Twitter and YouTube banned conservatives with large followings like Steven Crowder, Dan Bongino and former President of the United States Donald Trump.Rumble is an online video platform that started in Toronto, Canada in 2013.Joe Rogan is the former host of the hit TV show Fear Factor and works with the UFC as a color commentator.Joe apologized and insisted he was not a racist and also said he needs to do better, committing to having a more balanced platform in the future.Spotify then took down around 70 of Joe’s previous podcasts after videos resurfaced of Joe Rogan using racial slurs and several other objectionable quotes. The offer from Rumble comes on the heels of several bad press days for Joe Rogan and his platform Spotify.
